‘Healthy Cities’ Public Debates 2025

The Norman Foster Foundation (NFF) and Sanitas continue their joint commitment to promoting education and sharing knowledge on how architecture and urban design can improve the health of people and the planet. Their collaboration supports the creation of cities that are sustainable, equitable, healthy and liveable.

As part of this partnership, the Healthy Cities programme explores the relationship between health and architecture at the building scale. Moderated by Catherine Cummings, the latest Public Debates brought together leading voices to discuss the design of healthy buildings through keynote presentations and a panel conversation.

The event featured insights from Dr Vanessa Kerry, Barbara Spurrier, Mario Cucinella and Nigel Dancey, who examined how policy, technology and architectural practice can foster healthier urban environments. A concluding dialogue between Norman Foster and Yolanda Erburu Arbizu reflected on three years of collaboration and highlighted data-informed strategies for creating active, wellness-oriented cities.
